Danielle Simmons

About Danielle Simmons

Danielle uses humor, snark and a little sass to navigate the sometimes hectic, always comical life of raising a kid in the city. In addition to being a mom to a 3-year-old son, she is also a wife, small business owner and aspiring writer. She was born in the Bay Area but moved to a rural town in the Sierra Nevada foothills as a child. While small town life was idyllic to some, Danielle dreamed of moving back to the Big City and after meeting her future husband in college, that dream became a reality. With the support of her husband, a stay-at-home dad, Danielle wears the hat of PR diva by day and aspiring writer by night. A lover of cities, she has traveled both domestically and overseas, including time living abroad in London.

The Indelible Imprint of Icons on The Heart – RIP Prince

April 24, 2016 by Danielle Simmons Leave a Comment

In recent months, whenever an icon passes, social media mourns. Conversation around said artist is non-stop; memories shared and confessions revealed. It’s only with their passing we reach into ourselves and as if never really fully understood before, finally do, the impact of that person had on our life. This week was no different. The passing of music legend Prince was a … [Read more...] about The Indelible Imprint of Icons on The Heart – RIP Prince

Be Kind. Be Human.

April 17, 2016 by Danielle Simmons Leave a Comment

Today didn’t set out to bad or good. Just a day, like any other, filled with work and things to do. I wasn’t expecting greatness. But I certainly wasn’t expecting sadness. And yet there it was, death — a little too close to home, hard to process, making my head spin. But while my head reeled from the sudden and tragic loss of one — in my soul’s numbness of aching for a little … [Read more...] about Be Kind. Be Human.

Help Care For Animals Injured By Fire

September 25, 2015 by Danielle Simmons Leave a Comment

Last week the Butte Fire in Amador and Calaveras counties ravaged my hometown communities. Calaveras took the biggest beating, with many of the 75,000 acres burned and 545 residences/356 outbuildings lost, in that county. County lines have all but diminished however, with families and local businesses from both pulling together to help those impacted by the fire. I couldn’t be … [Read more...] about Help Care For Animals Injured By Fire

Take Time to Stop and Smell the Flowers

September 2, 2015 by Danielle Simmons Leave a Comment

We never stop. We’re always going, going, going. We conduct conference calls while getting dressed in the morning, check email at night, and work on the weekends to make sure we stay on top of it all.  Add kids to the picture and the so-called balance we claim to work for gets, well, further off balance. Our days then begin by scrolling through email first thing in the … [Read more...] about Take Time to Stop and Smell the Flowers

Her Name Would Have Been Sophie

March 8, 2015 by Danielle Simmons Leave a Comment

I had a daughter once. At least that’s what my heart told me. A beautiful girl with no face, who would have been all that I am, and everything I’m not. Her name would have been Sophie. To this day, I don’t know why that name came to me. While lovely, I’d never paid it much consideration. Maybe it was a matter of “psychic roots” – the influence of coincidence and … [Read more...] about Her Name Would Have Been Sophie
