An Amazing Weekend!

An Amazing Weekend!

I had an amazing weekend with David. I finally hit my wall which doesn’t happen often. But, I was sleep-deprived, exhausted from being on overdrive the last 3-4 months, and I finally realized that I needed to check out of the world for a few days. And I did. It was just what the doctor ordered. David and I snuck away to one of our favorite local hotels. We went on the best “staycation” ever.

I slept in, blacked out the windows, gave up wine for three full days, ate healthy, worked out, connected with my partner. It was absolutely amazing. Funny thing is, by the second morning, we had arranged for Rain and Shaya to join us and we spent all day at the hotel with our children. We had a beautiful breakfast, ran around in the garden and connected as a family as well which is really important.
I felt like I really needed that break as I go into the final week of Dancing With The Stars. I can’t believe the season is coming to an end! I am so excited! I am just as excited about watching the freestyle dances tonight as when I competed myself. It’s such a great feeling to love what I’m doing professionally that much.
It seems like time is flying. This year has been an absolute whirlwind. With summer being right around the corner, I’m looking forward to some really great quality family time.
On the way home on Sunday, I went to the market and bought some beautiful vegetables and herbs and I cooked a great lunch for David and the kids. I made one of my favorite salads – tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, salt and pepper, olive oil and balsamic. I also added red and yellow cherry tomatoes and cut up beautiful Israeli cucumbers. It was a really fresh, yummy, crunchy salad.

Then I toasted a French baguette and sliced up some brie – one of my daughter’s favorite dishes.

I grilled salmon using a very simple recipe. I buy salmon rub from the store, add some salt and pepper, and a bit of olive oil in the pan. It was an absolutely perfect and healthy lunch. The only thing missing was a glass of white wine, which David and I decided to give up for the week.

Then I went out into the garden to do one of my favorite things – work on my roses. Rain helped me prune all the roses, standing by holding a little basket. Then I filled all the vases in my house with different colored roses: peach, pink, red, and yellow. It was absolutely gorgeous and definitely one of the most relaxing things that I do around the house. It was amazing to have a full day at home, cooking, working in the garden, hanging out with the kids, rolling around in Rain and Shaya’s bedroom with the little kitties. It was really wonderful. I got to bed early last night and I feel completely rejuvenated and ready for part one of our two part finale tonight.

I feel like a new woman. It’s amazing what a little R & R and a little down time at home can do for me. I couldn’t ask for more.
