I was so proud to be named a Smile Ambassador for Operation Smile in 2010. This charity has touched my heart in a deep way. You can visit their website to learn more about what they do and how many children need their attention.
I am so blessed to have 4 healthy children. As a mother, I know how difficult it can be to maneuver through life’s many challenges. Children deserve a chance to be confident and have a smile on their faces! I have been trying to raise money and broaden awareness for many children in need since my involvement just a year ago. In fact, I’m planning to go on a mission with my oldest daughter to witness firsthand the miracles, devotion and hard work that thousands of volunteers generously commit every year through Operation Smile’s efforts.
Can you imagine it takes only $240.00 to change a child’s life?!
Last year, David and I hosted the New York Gala. Tonight is the annual charity event in LA, and David and I are honored to be presenting the compelling story of Jose Villegas. If you don’t know his story, you should, because he is a remarkable man who sacrificed his own surgical opportunity to allow other deserving children their spot.
Can you imagine being given a second chance at life and instead, selflessly passing it on to another child? I don’t know many people like Jose.
Because of his generosity, Jose was selected as a World Care patient and brought to Virginia for a series of nine corrective surgeries. I will meet him tonight. When I heard Jose’s story, I thought of my children and the many others who are not like them. I knew I had to get involved.
