Checking in and Checking Out

Checking in and Checking Out

I’ve been on Twitter/Internet hiatus since the finale of DWTS.  I seriously needed to check out of the world.  Not just because of the intense season, life in general has been action packed lately.  Since January I have been going non-stop.  I am totally not complaining, it’s a great problem to have and I am beyond blessed!  I’m just fessing up that I need a serious check out so I can check in!!!

David and I piled the whole family into our truck and headed for the mountains this morning.  It’s just what the Doctor ordered.  Fresh air, friends and family. That’s 10 adults and 18 children. We will do nothing but cook, drink wine, catch up & play games this holiday weekend.  I spent the afternoon sitting in the sun, playing with the kids, watching the guys have a paddle tennis tournament and enjoying the beautiful mountain views. It’s amazing how little it actually takes to entertain the right mix of people.  So many different personalities, yet many share some important common denominators.  A zest for life, family affairs, and the love for good old fashioned hanging at home.  It’s a joy to take some time out to reconnect with special friends.

Looking back on the past 5 months, I can’t believe how much I managed to squeeze in.  I feel like a child going into this summer.  Remembering how I used to wait for that vacation from school to get the down time every kid craves.  We are planning a family vacation this summer, and it will be the first one that we have all had together in many years.  I can’t wait!!!  It seems like time is flying too fast, and my kids are growing up too soon.  They don’t get enough time together, enough time to just chill and be kids.  I am victim to too many responsibilities lately and so are my kids.  I love summer and I will count the days till school is out.  Sleeping in, no classes, long breakfasts outside, night swimming, movie nights, late bedtimes and NO wake up calls.  I sound like a kid myself, but I am craving those times too.

Right now my kids are playing bingo with their friends, Shaya is passed out, the guys are watching UFC.  We just cheered the Lakers into the finals, some are cleaning up the dinner dishes, and strangely enough I am sitting writing this blog.  I felt like checking in with all of you, because my blogs have been too few lately.  This is my first weekend in a while to do what I enjoy; writing is a big part of that.  But I better get back to my family.  Have a great Holiday….
