It’s the sad time of year for many of us when the days get shorter and darkness comes upon us too soon. Or for some of us it’s nice because we can get the kids to sleep earlier 🙂
Yep, it’s time to change your clocks for the end of daylight savings time!
This year, we “fall back” in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 1st. But since daylight savings time officially ends at 2 a.m. in the United States and Canada, you’ll probably want to change your clock before you go to sleep on Saturday night.
Just remember – you’re turning it BACK by one hour.
The good news about the return to standard time is that it will feel like you get an extra hour of sleep in the morning- so if you wake up at 9 a.m., it’s now 8 a.m. The bad news is that it will get dark sooner in the evening.
Here are a few fun facts about daylight savings time:
– Not all areas in the United States observe daylight savings time, including Hawaii and most of Arizona.
– According to a national survey, 27% of people say they’ve been an hour early or late at least once in their lives because of not changing their clocks correctly.
– Several historians cite Ben Franklin as the first person to suggest the concept of daylight savings. It makes sense, given his “early to bed, early to rise” motto!
