Last night, Rain and I made some Halloween food art. Here’s what we had for dinner at my house:
Start with a stick of string cheese and cut it into two pieces. Make vertical cuts in each segment to separate the string cheese and make it look like a broom stick. Then, stick it on the bottom of a pretzel rod. Pinterest Tip: If you want to get really fancy, you can use a piece of shoe-string licorice to tie the string cheese to the pretzel.
Spider (Deviled) Eggs
Hard-boil your eggs and cut in half. Scoop out the yolks and save in a bowl. Mix with mayo, mustard, salt, pepper – whatever you normally put in your deviled eggs. (Here’s a general recipe and here’s a bacon and blue cheese version.) Pipe the mixture back into your empty egg whites. Take some black olives and cut in half. Place one circle in the center of the egg to be the spider body. Slice the remaining half lengthwise to make legs. Arrange into a creepy, crawly spider shape!
This is super simple and a great way to get your little ones to eat more fruit. Just peel some clementines and stick a sprig of parsley in the top to look like a tiny pumpkin stem. You can even use non-toxic markers and draw scary and silly jack-o-lantern faces on a few unpeeled clementines for decoration.
