Women who have gone through a pregnancy often have the same or similar experiences. After giving birth they are not only heavier but their bodies are not of the same shape and size as they were before they were pregnant. Pregnancy and childbirth can be traumatic. A woman’s abdominal muscles will be both stretched and weakened after giving birth, and her body will not automatically restore itself to its original condition. However, a woman can tighten these muscles and slim down the abdominal area with proper exercise.*

Working out is ALWAYS a priority for me. I usually put on my workout clothes first thing in the morning to make sure I get some exercise in. Some days I know exactly what I’ll be doing, spin class, home workout, jog in the park. Other days I don’t know when or how I am going to fit in physical activity but I make it my mission.

OT-Related Exercises for Children with Autism

My child frequently has a “high engine.” He was taught this phrase to describe how his body is feeling. A high engine means hes racing inside. His body sometimes has a low engine but that typically takes place first thing in the morning. Low engine means he has no energy in his body. When his engine is high, our child needs to do something to help his body. He wants to regulate his body to get the level to a moderate level, one that he’s comfortable with and leads to less body-related behaviors.
