Its always refreshing when the latest parenthood headlines focus on fathers instead of mothers. Last week, the front page of the New York Times read: Fatherhood Cuts Testosterone, Study Finds, for Good of the Family. Regardless of exactly why the New York Times editors consider this front page news, or exactly what the data shows, its inspirational that expensive research resources, and newspaper ink, recognize how critical dads are to raising kids. Unlike so many sensationalist headlines stirring moms guilt and our hormones, this headline suggests fairly that good parenting is not all about us moms.
Coloring (and Living) Outside the Lines
My sister, Jessica, sent my daughter Ava a set of paints for her 5th Birthday. She called to make sure the gift arrived. Did Ava paint me a picture yet? she asked. Yeah, but it wasnt that great, I explained. Ill wait until she does a good one. Silence.

A Star is Born
Last night I attended my childs elementary school chorus Holiday show. Theres nothing that screams its the holidays more than an hour of traditional Christmas music sang by 6 year old little boys and girls. As all the parents gathered into the small theater, I couldnt help become distracted by the bake sale brownies, cakes, cookies (not to mention, really HOT dads). Knowing this might be the longest hour of my life, I purchased a few brownies to help get me through the performance.
