Spicy Sausage and Peppers Pita Recipe + $50 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway

June 18, 2018 by Lori Pace

This post is in with partnership with Mirum. Giveaway is sponsored by ModernMom.

Spicy foods and I have not always been friends. In fact, for years I would stay far away from peppers, jalapeños and any seasoning that might set my taste buds on fire. However, in the last few years, I have started to add more and more heat to my meals. I am not sure why, maybe I was just bored with the same old same old of my recipes, but now I have a craving for the unique flavor that can only come from adding the heat! A side effect I did not expect from spicing it up, however, is heartburn. I have it and I battle it. I used to take an over- the-counter pill, but I stopped. I just don’t like taking pills at all. As a result, I stopped making those recipes that really made me happy. Not anymore, though, as I have discovered NEW Omeprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets! It is the ONLY disintegrating heartburn tablet on the market and I love it. I simply pop it in my mouth and let it dissolve on my tongue as I go on with the rest of my day! I don’t even need water! Now that I have it, I am back to making my Spicy Sausage and Peppers Pita recipe again too!

Heartburn is distracting and painful and irritating. It rears its ugly head when I least expect it. I experienced it for the first time when I was pregnant but then it seemed to go away. Well, in my 40’s it is back and bothersome enough that I have tried many a product to make it go away. I love to eat and I love to be active and I dislike anything that stops me. For a while now, I have taken the leading pill on the market. While it worked, I would often miss taking it because I don’t like to take pills. As silly as it sounds, I also didn’t want to take the time to find a glass. I’m lazy when I am deep into my crazy day, I guess.

Finding Omeprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets has been awesome. I sit them right by my desk and take one in the morning easily. Because it is as effective as the pill form of heartburn preventatives, I still get 24-hour protection but without the annoyance of having to stop and take a pill. It’s long-lasting protection makes it ideal for people like me who suffer from heartburn often. I really like the Strawberry flavor and the fact that is is less expensive than the store brand too! Be sure to read the instructions, as it is not to be taken for more than 14 days, or more often than every four months, unless directed by your doctor. Omeprazole ODT is not intended for immediate relief and can take 1-4 days for full effect.

With Omeprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets on board, I can get back to making those recipes that made the beads of sweat pop on my forehead like this Spicy Sausage and Peppers Pita Recipe!

Get ready to feel the heat with this one! It is easy and fun but your should have a glass of ice water next to you when you consume it! We can tame it a little and I will share how to do that as well.

Spicy Sausage and Peppers Pita Recipe

Prep time: 15 mins
Cook time: 10 mins
Total time: 25 mins

This Spicy Sausage and Peppers Pita Recipe will heat up any meal!

Ingredients

  • 3 pita bread rounds
  • 6 hot & spicy sausage links
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 orange bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 jalapeno, diced
  • 6 slices pepper jack cheese
  • splash of hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the pita rounds in half and separate. Set aside. In a skillet, add sliced sausage in and let brown on both sides. Pull out of skillet and set on paper towels to drain. Rinse the skillet and place back on the heat. Add the olive oil and the peppers. Let brown about 5 -7 minutes. Add a splash of hot sauce if desired.
  2. Add sausage back in and heat.
  3. Lay pepper jack cheese slices into the pita bread. Add sausage and peppers mixture and serve.

I promised I would help you tame this recipe down. To do that, use regular smoked sausage, leave out the jalapeño and hot sauce and use Gouda cheese instead of pepper jack. It will still taste amazing without the eye- popping spice!

Now that I have my heartburn under control with the only dissolve-able product on the market, I can add the peppers and the spices I want to my recipes and know that my heartburn is under control!

Find Omeprazole ODT at your local Walmart or Walmart.com.
