On August 27, 2015, American Girl introduced fans to 1950s character Maryellen Larkin–an optimistic, energetic girl growing up in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1954.
Girls will love her warm brown eyes and her high ponytail of strawberry blonde hair. Her outfit is 1950s-inspired striped dress, a lacy knit sweater with a monogramed M, black shoes, (underwear, of course), and a bow in her hair.
The Maryellen product line includes the 18-inch Maryellen doll and two-book series, several 1950s-era doll outfits and cool new accessories that combine iconic ’50s aesthetics with innovative features that extend the play experience for girls, including a TV console that works with a girl‘s iPad, and a jukebox that plays ’50s-style songs and connects to electronic music players.
Girls across the country can explore the fabulous ’50s with free Maryellen-inspired events geared for girls ages 8 and up that include a free craft, a retro photo experience, and free gift at the Maryellen Retail Events at American Girl retail stores.
The Maryellen doll and related products are available at americangirl.com; at all American Girl retail locations nationwide; through American Girl’s catalogue; and at American Girl specialty boutiques at select Indigo™ and Chapters™ locations in Canada and El Palacio de Hierro locations in Mexico City. The Maryellen books can also be purchased through retail and online booksellers.
