Parenting A Special Needs Child: A Story of Struggle and Survival

June 8, 2015 by Cynthia Litman Leave a Comment

As an expectant mom, I remember scouring and assessing my child-to-be’s gene pool, but like Forrest Gump’s Momma’s famous pearl, “Life is Like a Box Of Chocolates and you never know what you’re gonna get!” You cannot control who your children will be or what they will be predisposed to (at least not yet, but give science just a bit longer). Any expectant parent has … [Read more...] about Parenting A Special Needs Child: A Story of Struggle and Survival

Food Fight: The Relationship Between Our Kids and What They Eat

October 19, 2014 by Cynthia Litman Leave a Comment

Foodie vs. Picky Eater My daughter has a most open and welcome relationship with food whereas my son is much more guarded. He is on the “kids’ menu” … [Read more...] about Food Fight: The Relationship Between Our Kids and What They Eat

Spring Cleaning for the Soul

April 6, 2011 by Cynthia Litman Leave a Comment

On my morning walk, I noticed garbage, lots of garbage, and then I came across Imelda Marcos’s pearl, “People say I’m extravagant because I want to be surrounded by beauty, but tell me, who wants to be surrounded by garbage?" Some mornings, I notice the light, other times the green stems cropping up from the ground and flowers bursting into the air, but on this … [Read more...] about Spring Cleaning for the Soul

Unwrap The Love This Holiday Season!

December 30, 2010 by Cynthia Litman Leave a Comment

As the Hanukkah lights have dwindled down and now the Christmas lights fills the nightscape, the magic of the holidays fills our hearts and I’m thinking of James Thurber’s pearl “There are two kinds of light - the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures.” No matter what holiday you celebrate, traditions are elemental to your holiday and collective family memory … [Read more...] about Unwrap The Love This Holiday Season!

Overcome Your Fears of the Dentist and Life

December 2, 2010 by Cynthia Litman Leave a Comment

When we used to go to Great Adventure, I’d be hesitant to go on the rollercoaster and my grandmother (dad’s momma) used to say the pearl “whaaaaat? What’s the big deal, close your eyes real tight, scream your head off and before you know it, the ride is over.” The Thrill of the Chase So that is exactly what I did and loved it. It added a new … [Read more...] about Overcome Your Fears of the Dentist and Life
