Katy Perry and John Mayer: Is This a Disaster Waiting to Happen?

August 2, 2012 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Katy Perry is on the rebound – but is she headed for another heartbreak?

The 27-year-old pop star has been spotted out and about since her split from ex-husband Russell Brand last year, and starting back in June, there were rumors that she’d found a new flame.

And recent photographs have confirmed that the lovely gentleman who’s swept her off her enamel sushi heels is none other than John Mayer.

The pair was seen holding hands and gazing admiringly at one another at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Wednesday night. After their cozy dinner, they drove off together.

Wow. So does Perry have the worst taste in men ever, or what?

Sure, we love John Mayer’s sexy “I just woke up” singing voice as much as the next girl, but this guy’s dating history is a major red flag.

The 34-year-old has been linked to Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, Vanessa Carlton, Minka Kelly and Taylor Swift – just to name a few. And nearly every one of his relationships has ended with Mayer saying something snarky, mean or overly revealing about the girl.

Meanwhile Perry recently told Elle magazine that she “likes to be courted” and wants to “let love take the lead.”

While Mayer does have a reputation for romance – he penned the hit “Your Body Is a Wonderland” for then-girlfriend Jennifer Love Hewitt – he also has a track record of bad break-ups.

What do you think? Is this a love match or will Perry wind up on Mayer’s extensive “ex” list?
