Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell Overcome the Twin Trap

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell made sure that their twin girls Dolly and Charlie, 2 this month, won’t experience "seniority" issues.

“They’re exactly the same age,” Jerry explains in December/January issue of Scholastic Parent & Child. “My wife and I had met some twins before ours were born and one would always say, ‘I’m the older one.’ And that twin would have a kind of seniority over the other.”

They even checked with the doctor who delivered the twins via c-section. “We asked the doctor, ‘Can we say they were born at the same time?"’ Jerry says. “And he said, ‘Well, they were.’”

The couple vowed to treat their twins like individuals, recognizing and embracing their differences. “We had this rule that we were going to treat them differently and dress them differently,” Jerry explains.

But, Jerry admits that sometimes he dresses the girls in matching outfits. "I just can’t help myself," he says.

The proud parents are quickly noticing how different their girls are, despite the fact that they look alike. “One is outgoing and one is shy,” Jerry and Rebecca explain, “one is a little wilder and more of a daredevil, and the other is more careful.”
