Activities To Get Your Kids To Put Down Their Electronics

July 2, 2019 by ModernMom Staff

It’s summer which means lazy days in the sun and lots of free time (which unfortunately tends to be lots of video games/tv watching). We found some cool products to help keep your kids occupied without staring at a screen.

Meet Codi the Robot who has light up/color changing ears and antenna and plays a free library of over 200 stories and songs! For ages 12 months and up, the content is customizable based on your child’s interests and age. If the expressive voice and engaging interactions aren’t enough, your little one also can dress Codi up in different costumes! These soft outfits protect Codi and soften him up as a nap buddy. LOVE.

Encourage your child to play use her imagination! For almost 100 years, Madame Alexander dolls have promoted creative play. We love the Middleton Twins – these are beautifully handcrafted and your little one will love hugging these fraternal twins. They come with adoption papers and a very realistic look (not to mention they each are clutching a little animal friend)! Imagination and creative play are sure to happen with these adorable twins!

How about something that’s also educational? Your kids (8 and up) will go crazy building three different robots with the AstroBot Series: Cosmos Kit. They can keep themselves occupied with step by step animated building instructions. They can actually code these robots to perform tricks like navigating obstacles, picking up things while also adding personality and light and sound effects. Great way to keep the summer brain drain down to a minimum! They’ll have so much fun they won’t realize they are learning!

Invite over kids from the neighborhood and have an afternoon of outside fun in the sun with Bunch O Balloons Self-Sealing Water Balloons. These are seriously amazing. No more filling balloons and having them pop in your hands and then repeating over and over. You literally connect to a hose or tap and it fills a hundred of water balloons! And best of all – you don’t have to tie them! Yep, it fills and ties them. Done. Brilliant.

Everyone loves SpongeBob and the kids will really love to play with these SpongeBob StretchPants! When you pull his stretchable limbs, SpongeBob makes silly sounds and his special catch phrases are activated. What will he say next? Your kids are sure to want to know which will keep them engaged and interacting again and again! His soft squishy body makes him easy to take on road trips too.
