Alanis Morissette: I’m Breastfeeding My 16-Month-Old

In the wake of Time’s breastfeeding cover controversy, Alanis Morissette is weighing in on the benefits of attachment parenting.

In an interview on “The Billy Bush Show,” she revealed that she is still nursing her 16-month-old son – and has no plans to stop anytime soon.

“I breastfeed and I’ll be breastfeeding until my son is finished and he weans,” said the 37-year-old singer.  Little Ever Imre is the first child for Morissette and her rapper husband Mario “Souleye” Treadway.

She went on to explain that their family believes in staying “skin-on-skin connected” as much as possible and is practicing co-sleeping.

Morissette thinks these choices will provide her son with more stability down the road. “I think it affords the child, when he grows up, to have a lot less therapy to go to,” she explained.

“For me, I protect his safety and his well-being and his attachment. That stage of development is a very important stage.”
