Finding Dory is everything you’d want in a sequel, the introduction of adorable new characters but most importantly, the return of the beloved characters (especially Nemo and Marlin). It’s hard to follow in the footsteps of the beloved Finding Nemo, but Finding Dory does not disappoint.
The movie has a similar theme of family and love but this time it’s Dory looking for her parents with the help of Nemo and Marlin. In this movie we learn Dory’s backstory, how she finds herself in the Great Barrier Reef through her childhood memories that come in bits and pieces.
Pixar handles Dory’s disability (short-term memory loss) with sensitivity and the values of the importance of family, teamwork, friendship and unconditional love permeate the story. Ellen DeGeneres is incredible and maintains a balance of Dory’s lovable optimism and her anxiety due to her memory loss. This movie is sure to charm adults and kids alike.
Finding Dory is a wonderful film that will definitely be a family favorite. Make sure to watch the credits to meet some old friends.
