Soupy Sales, Legendary Comedian, Dies at 83

Soupy Sales, the comedian best known for having pies thrown in his face, died at 83. He made 5,000 live TV appearances across 50 years with his anything-for-a-laugh motto. His children’s television show – Lunch with Soupy Sales-attracted an audience of children and adults.

The comic began his TV career in Detroit and then moved to LA in 1961. The pie-throwing routine made him famous – he even remarked that “I’ll probably be remembered for the pies, and that’s all right,” in a 1985 interview.

Celebs like Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis and Shirley MacLaine stood by his side and received pies in their faces along with him!

Soupy – you were one of a kind.
