Let's Craft is a special feature full of great crafts, inspiration and DIY projects that are perfect for any Modern Mom!
This project comes from Jessica Begum, the crafty momma behind the blog Hipster's Tea Party. Check out her tutorial for these rockin' refrigerator decorations:
"I have seen different versions of these adorable little magnets floating around Pinterest, and I just had to make some! Especially because I have a soon-to-be kindergartner just learning to spell. How cute would it be to replace the dated plastic alphabet magnets on your fridge with these little guys?
Just keep in mind - they are not for babies! Ultra choking hazard!"

Supplies
Directions

Well, these are pretty self-explanatory on their construction, but I will give you a few helpful hints!
I painted all of the letters first, and then added the "decoration" later after they dried. I stuck to simple dots and zigzags.
Even though I'm an artist, I'm not a very neat one. Keeping tidy and uniform is not my forte! If it's yours, then you will definitely have the upper hand. If you are like me, then don't sweat it, they'll still turn out great!
I also made nearly 70 letters and different punctuation rocks so my little one can learn about sentence construction. Nothing worse than not having the letter you need to finish your thought! I tripled the popular letters and doubled the more allusive ones.

Keep in mind that some letters can swing two ways. A "d" can be a "p" and a "n" can be a "u." ;) I also kept all letters lowercase just to keep it simple.
Once rocks are dry, cover with a coat of Mod Podge to protect the paint from chipping, and hot glue a magnet on the back.
Now go rock your painting skills!

Planning to try this at home? We'd love to see how it turns out! Send us photos of your crafty efforts and we'll add them to our photo gallery!
