The following is a guest post from Meredith Mallon, General Merchandising Manager, Kids at zulily
Want your kids to steal the show this back to school season? Our zulily buyers have scoured the market for back to school fashion and are sharing a preview of the upcoming autumn trends.
Denim is big for tops, especially chambray fabric and bling embellishment. We’re also seeing vintage bohemian styles come back, featuring lots of lace mixed with denim and other fabrics.
You can also jazz up any top with sheer and chiffon layering.
Faux leather is in for everything from skirts to strips in jeans. Leggings with dresses are still a big hit so you can keep your playground-playing princess cozy while looking on-trend.
For outerwear, look for a variety of warm layers to match the various temps of the season. Nip the autumn chill with a hip, roomy poncho featuring a folk-life inspired Aztec pattern. Or bring out that faux leather again with a motorcycle jacket.
For drizzly days, coordinating ensemble that consists of a raincoat plus matching boots, backpack and lunchbox are cool for school.
Accessorize with a hat or headband that features sequence in black, silver, pink and purple. For cool days, look for scarves and trapper hats that have glitter thread woven into them.
You’ll see camouflage in various colors, from traditional to black and white.
Skinny jeans are on their way out, getting replaced by straight-leg jeans. Athletic looks are in, so pair his graphic tees or sporty polos with basketball shorts. If you have surf-lovin’ child, let him rock that vibe with totally trendy tribal prints.
Hoodies galore with piecing and printing will be all the rage, so stock up on several. They even have ones with built-in earphones!
Complete your dude’s look with a classic fedora. Then fit his feet with a pair of converse or skater shoes plus socks in fun colors and patterns to mix and match with outfits (also predicted to be popular among girls).
The zulily back to school sales begin July 15 running for six weeks featuring these looks and more.
