Nick Cannon Has “Lupus Type” Autoimmune Disease

Opening up about his recent health problems, Nick Cannon revealed that he has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

“They kind of say (my) autoimmune (disease) is – like a lupus type of thing, but no one else in my family has it,” the “America’s Got Talent” presenter told People.

Cannon was hospitalized in January for acute kidney failure and then a few weeks later due to blood clots in his lungs.

“The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because … I’ve known people who have passed away from that,” he said.

The 31-year-old has since stepped down from his morning radio show at his doctor’s orders. “Even Superman has to sleep,” he said in a statement.

For now, Cannon is focused on his recovery as well as spending time with wife Mariah Carey and their 10-month-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

“I feel blessed to be alive,” Cannon said. “If it wasn’t discovered, I don’t know [what would have happened].”
