Take A Few Minutes To Relax and Recharge

The following is a sponsored post by LINDT.

Do you ever have those days where nothing seems to go your way and stress creeps in? Messes get made on top of messes, you forgot to sign the kid’s field trip note, and you forgot to set out the trash…Sound familiar? Times like these are when I realize that I need to recharge. I’ve learned that my body, mind, and soul are not made to operate under such conditions! If I’m stretched too thin or I’m too tired, mentally or physically, I’m not firing on all cylinders. This is hard for me to admit, because it’s my job to manage all areas of my family’s life and to do it successfully. But, I’ve come to the conclusion that I am a stronger mom for being able to admit and know that when I’m running on a low battery, I am only giving a portion of myself to my duties instead of 100%. Honestly, with six kids, I don’t have a lot of time to myself and frankly I feel bad when I take time. But, in the last 11 years I’ve learned a few ways to sneak in a little time for myself that I don’t feel too guilty about. I want to share my secrets with you, just in case you’re due for a battery recharge soon.

Get up early before the kids and watch the sunrise. I don’t always get this time, but when I make an effort to do this, my day always runs smoother. Getting up early and having time to myself to reflect on my day, meditate and just relish in all that I’m thankful for is so refreshing! In the late spring/summer I sit out on my back porch and watch the sun rise. This is by far one of my favorite times to myself.

Take 10 minutes to unwind with a good book, a LINDOR Milk Chocolate truffle and a warm cup of coffee. I can use books as an escape from my reality, if only for a short time! It’s a perfect way to get your creative juices flowing too! I’m a sucker for a good mystery or romance. Take a few minutes to yourself to get lost in the story while enjoying a delicious LINDOR Milk Chocolate truffle. When you break the shell of a LINDOR truffle, you release the irresistibly smooth melting filling inside, and as it melts you will feel yourself melting away in a moment of total contentment and relaxation. It’ll make you feel like a new woman. (Lindt is giving away one million coupons online for any 5.1 oz. bag of LINDOR truffles now through LINDOR Chocolate Day, May 9th).

Do a little yard work. Yes – it helps to relieve stress! You may be thinking, what?! Really though, I love to mow the grass and plant flowers. When I’m out mowing, I can let the hum of the mower take me away into my thoughts and prayers. It’s a great way for me to get my kind of quiet, because let’s face it, when you have kids, the word quiet takes on a whole new meaning!

Hit the gym. Exercise is good for the body, mind and soul. Working up a good sweat gets the endorphins flowing and gives me energy to make it through the day. If you can’t make it to the gym then use a fitness DVD or workout videos on YouTube at home.

Remember, taking a little time to recharge is nothing to feel guilty about!
