Make Your Own Almond Milk

Does your family drink almond milk? If so, have you ever tried making your own?

It’s easier than you think!

Pure founder Veronica Bosgraaf shares her special recipe below. She makes a batch almost every day with her kids (they love squeezing the stocking) and her son Noah can make it almost completely on his own.

Enjoy!

Ingredients (Makes 4 servings)

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

1) Soak almonds overnight, drain and rinse.

2) Add almonds, filtered water, coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla and sea salt to a blender or Vitamix (I recommend making a double batch if it fits in your blender).

3) Blend for 2-3 minutes on high.

4) Strain into a pitcher using cheesecloth or a panty hose stocking (unused and unworn of course, ha ha!).

Tip: Sometimes I do not strain the batch and use it to make smoothies with a banana and peanut butter. I also sometimes make a batch without vanilla and maple syrup and use it place of milk in cream based soups. It is a wonderful substitute for milk or cream in just about any recipe.
