Well ladies, I feel like we haven’t covered sex in a while, so we’re well overdue!
Last night after proudly watching my son’s hockey practice, I went to dinner with my baby group girlfriends. It’s very nice; the same group of 8 girls I started a baby group with six years ago, I still dine with on a monthly basis. I always come home with a few good laughs for my hubby. Really.
So, after first exhausting H1N1 talk, we moved onto sex talk. Hmmm. No names of course, but let’s see what a group of 8 girls in their thirties and forties have to say about how often they’re “doin’ it.” Now let’s keep in mind, these are MARRIED women. I imagine if these thirty and forty year olds were single, it would be lot more frequent.
So, how often?
Well, not everyone shared, so actually, I don’t know all 8 answers. But it was a range from, pretty much not existent, to every night, to which I blurted out, “EVERY NIGHT????” And yes, one of them actually, it was the only forty year old in the group, does it every single night! And early in the evening too! They put the kids to bed at 7:30PM, sex it up a little, and then watch their daily shows on Tivo. Sounds like a nice cozy evening to me, m’ladies!
Most of us fell somewhere in the middle of practically never, to every day– you go girl! My girlfriends who know me well, know my hubby and I enjoy quite a healthy sex life (I don’t care if my mother or mother-in-law is reading. They’re all for it!). I think it’s both natural and necessary for the well being of a relationship.
Survey says: (loved that show by the way. Family Feud was one of my favorites). There are a few studies out there, but here are the results of a popular one:
- People have sex an average of 127 times a year. (For those of you poor in math, that’s once in every 2.88 days).
- Three quarters of those polled are happy with their sex lives.
- Eastern Europeans (Hungarians, Bulgarians, and Russians) are the most sexually active (150).
- The countries with the lowest frequency of sex are Japan (37 times per), Malaysia (62) and China (69).
- Couples living together report having sex 146 times per year.
- Married couples make love 98 times per year.
- Single folks are having sex the least at 49 times a year.
So what do you make of these stats? Well firstly, I was really wrong. I imagined single people on the prowl would be having a lot more sex than us married people, but apparently that isn’t so. They’re actually having the least! Another interesting point, couples that merely live together have a hell of a lot more sex than married couples! Duh! Nothing like good old fashioned marriage to kill the sex spark! And finally, I’m not surprised, Europeans are having the most sex. This was no shocker to me. I have been many times, and let me tell you, they do it all there!!
