How to Take Off Fake Eyelashes Without Remover

January 11, 2017 by ModernMom Staff

Beautiful, long, thick eyelashes create the perfect frame for a lovely pair of eyes and add a touch of glamour and sophistication to any look. From the flirty and feminine to the bold and dramatic, there are many different types of false lashes that can be used to add that special touch to the eyes. False lashes are applied with a lash glue that allows them to remain in place for hours of wear but is sometimes tricky to remove at the end of the day, particularly if you do not have any lash glue remover on hand. But, never fear, there are some other methods that allow you to remove your false lashes easily!

Using Steam to remove Fake Eyelashes

One natural way to remove your lashes is to use steam to soften the lash glue and allow you to pull them off easily. If you have a facial steamer, you can use that. Alternatively, bring 3 to 4 cups of water to a boil and then pour into a metal or glass bowl. Drape a towel around your head as you steam your face above the bowl for 3 to 5 minutes and then gently pull on the lashes from the outer corner. If there is any tugging or pulling, spend a few more minutes steaming until the lash adhesive is fully loosened. A great side benefit of this method is that steam is excellent for preparing for further skin treatments, so be sure to remove your make-up beforehand to take advantage of this mini-facial!

Using Make-Up Remover to remove Fake Eyelashes

The make-up remover that you use to remove the rest of your make-up can also be used to soften lash glue and remove your lashes. First, remove your surrounding eye make-up using make-up remover and a cotton pad. Then, soak a cotton swab in the same remover and gently run it along the lash line until the glue begins to dissolve and you can easily remove the eyelashes by gently pulling on them. If you want to reuse your lashes, be sure to choose an eye make-up remover that is oil-free.

Using Oils to remove Fake Eyelashes

Using oils is also a simple and effective way to remove false lashes. Coconut oil, almond oil, and baby oil will all quickly and easily dissolve lash glue. Just gently rub a small amount of any of these oils onto your eyelids and lashes until the glue dissolves and gently pull the lashes off. Using this method means that you will not be able to reuse the false lashes in the future as they will become coated in oil. However, oils can also be moisturizing for the eye area and so may be a good choice for those with dry skin.
