A marriage counselor asks questions in order to evaluate a couple’s relationship to one another. Therapists say that the success or failure of a marriage normally depends on how couples deal with the issues in their lives. While counseling can help couples learn how to cope with their problems more effectively, the goal of marriage counseling is to help the partners in a relationship find ways to prevent small problems from escalating into bigger troubles.
