Tips for Keeping Hair From Getting Frizzy

Frizzy hair is a problem that many women face, but you don’t have to simply suffer through it. Take action to help improve the look of your hair. Though you may have to spend more time on your hair than your sisters without frizzy hair, by following hair care advice specific to your hair type, you can avoid the frizzies.

Regular Cuts

Some women get frizzy hair due to split ends. This can happen when you don’t get your hair cut frequently enough. To remedy this, make an appointment for a hair cut once every six to eight weeks. If you are trying to grow your hair out, you can cut your hair closer to the eight-week mark.

Blow Drying Techniques

If you move your blow dryer up and down along your hair, this can cause it to frizz. Instead, you need to dry in a downward direction always, using a roller brush with natural bristles. Drying your hair may take a long time, but it’s worth it because it won’t be frizzy. However, you want to avoid drying your hair every day, which can dry it out too much.

Hair Products

Purchase anti-frizzing products in the hair care section of any store. Pomade is a waxy substance that tames the frizzes–a little bit goes a long way. Serums are lighter, but they can still get the job done. These are a great solution for helping to remedy your hair if it gets frizzy mid-day.

Curling and Straightening

Using a curling iron or a large hair straightener can help your hair stay less frizzy. This works well for hair that is frizzy because it has a coarse texture. Again, you won’t want to do this every day because it can dry out your hair.

Conditioning

Proper conditioning controls the frizzes by preventing dryness. The technique works well on hair that frizzes due to a perm or chemical treatment. Use a high-quality conditioner when you wash your hair, but you can also apply a deep conditioning treatment on your hair at least once a week.
