Sexy Hair Tips

Waking up to dull, boring hair each day is enough to make you want to bury your head in the sheets. You can have on the most stylish outfit and have perfect makeup, but a bad hair day can knock your confidence a notch or two. Make sexy hair your goal and achieve it with quick ideas that won’t dent your wallet or take up a lot of your time.

Sexy from Within

Start with a healthy diet, full of all the foods that provide all the nutrients that are vital for healthy, sexy hair–including omega-3 fatty acids, B-complex vitamins and beta carotene. Load up on fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, and foods like salmon and tofu. If you are not getting your fill of vitamins from what you eat, consider adding a multivitamin to your daily routine.

Trim the Dead Weight

Consider the last time you stepped into a hair salon. Visit your stylist every six to eight weeks for regular hair trims to help your hair look its best. A good hair trim can help reduce split ends, cut down on frizz and help hair absorb the oils it needs to prevent a dry and brittle appearance.

Hair for Your Lifestyle

Just because your favorite celebrity decided to wear a short, trendy hairdo for the summer doesn’t necessarily mean that same cut will work with the shape of your face and be manageable for your lifestyle. Keep your hair looking sexy by selecting a style that suits your lifestyle.

If your time is limited in the morning, opt for a style that doesn’t require excess manipulation, use of styling tools and products. Work with a stylist to select a cut that frames your face well and highlights your features.

Turn Down the Heat

Heat can harm you hair, if it is used on a regular basis. Opt for styles that use little to no heat. If heat is necessary, pick up a heat-protecting serum from the drugstore and apply it liberally before blow drying, curling or flat ironing your mane.

Condition Your Tresses to Shine

Conditioner nourishes the hair with the nutrients it needs to stay hydrated and healthy. While you may pair a conditioner with your shampooing sessions, it’s important to include a weekly deep conditioning to your hair regimen.

Your local drugstore or hair store offers a wide selection of deep conditioners, but you can also create your own at home. The DIY Life website suggests a recipe combining 1/2 avocado and a small jar of mayonnaise. Apply the mixture, cover your hair with a plastic cap and then place a warm towel over the cap. Let is sit for 20 minutes, then rinse.
