Beauty Tips for Hair

June 24, 2010 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Although your hair may be your crowning beauty, it may feel more like the end of a witch’s broom. The appearance of your hair can make all the difference between feeling glamorous and feeling dowdy. Even though you may not be able to eliminate all your bad hair days, with a little care, you can beautify your hair and minimize the appearance of damaged hair. Keeping your hair healthy and looking its best can enhance your beauty and boost your confidence.

Regular Trims

Keeping your hair beautiful requires regular haircuts. Even if you are growing your hair long, regular trims can enhance the health of your hair by removing dry, damaged ends. Without regular trims, you may notice the appearance of split ends and breakage. Although some products minimize the appearance of damage, cutting the tips provides the only cure for your split ends.

Turn Up the Shine

Lackluster hair can detract from your beauty. Select products that increase the shine. Look for shampoos and conditioners that contain helpful ingredients, such as rice proteins, jojoba and olive oil. Alternate these shine-enhancing products with your regular products to prevent buildup. Thoroughly rinse your hair after shampooing and conditioning to enhance the level of shine.

Deep Condition

A regular, deep conditioner can keep your hair looking lush and beautiful. Select a deep conditioner formulated for your type of hair and apply about once every week. Apply this treatment to towel-dried hair and cover with a hair cap or plastic bag. Wrap a towel over your head and allow the conditioner to remain on your hair for 10 to 20 minutes.

Eliminate Damage

Heat can damage your hair. Although you may enjoy the convenience of hair appliances, the heat they produce can injure your hair, causing it to look unhealthy. Keep your hair looking its best by allowing it to dry naturally, whenever possible. If you have to use hot styling tools, set them on a low heat and apply a silicone-based styling product to protect your hair from the heat. When applying a silicone serum, focus on the dry, fragile ends of your hair.
