Frizzy Hair Tips

Like many women with frizzy hair, you may feel you have more than your fair share of bad hair days. The texture and condition of your hair can cause it to frizz and pouf, especially in humid, balmy weather. Although many individuals experience occasional frizzy hair, individuals with coarse or naturally curly hair tend to suffer the most from this condition. Your frizzy hair requires special care.

Limit Shampoo Sessions

Do not wash your hair more often than necessary. Daily shampooing can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it frizzy and damaged. Select a shampoo that contains panthenol and protein. These ingredients can smooth frizzy ends and smooth curly hair.

Deep Conditioning

Dry, damaged hair can increase the frizzy appearance of your locks. Apply a rich, deep conditioner each time you shampoo. As opposed to conditioning rinses, deep conditioners remain on the hair for an extended time and add helpful moisture to individual strands. Allow your deep conditioner to remain on your hair for at least five minutes. After conditioning, rinse your hair thoroughly.

Homemade Hair Mask

Treat yourself to an occasional, home spa day. Pamper your hair with a homemade mask by mashing together a banana and half an avocado. Apply this mixture to your dry hair. Use a large comb to distribute the mask. Cover your hair with a plastic cap or bag to retain moisture and create warmth. Rinse out your hair mask after about 10 minutes. The potassium and moisturizing fatty acids will soften your frizzy hair. Performing this home spa treatment every two weeks will help tame your locks.

Dry Gently

Starting with a microfiber towel, blot your wet hair to remove moisture. Avoid wringing or twisting your hair. Rough treatment of damp hair, including rubbing and towel buffing, can cause your hair to break. Gently press the moisture out of your hair and allow to air dry. If you are in a hurry to dry your hair, use an ionic blow dryer. These appliances help to compress your hair cuticles, reducing the frizz. Use a diffuser attachment to minimize puffiness.

Smooth Out Frizz

Apply an anti-frizz product to your hair before leaving the house. Select a finishing product formulated to calm frizzy hair. Lightly mist the spray over a small brush, such as a toothbrush, and skim it across the surface of the outer strands. Substitute an anti-frizz styling cream for the shine spray if you have unruly curls that tend to frizz.
