Short Hair Celebrity Hairstyles

A short hairstyle is ideal for anyone who has an oval- or square-shaped face. Many celebrities don short hairstyles that complement their facial features as well as their personalities. These celebrities can sometimes influence hair trends that others can follow. If you like the idea of a no-fuss, short hairstyle, look no further than your favorite stars for inspiration.

Pixie Cut

If there is one thing that Audrey Hepburn, Julie Andrews and Halle Berry have in common besides being beautiful and iconic actresses of their eras, it is the pixie cut. Who could forget a scene in the 1953 movie “Roman Holiday” when Audrey Hepburn, who played a crown princess, cut short her long hair during her day out in Rome? Ever since, many women followed suit in hopes of looking as glamorous as Audrey. Julie Andrews captivated the hearts of many in her role as a loving nun and nanny named Maria in the 1965 movie “Sound of Music.” Although Maria’s short hair was a requirement for nunnery, she looked very much a lady, who went on to win the heart of Captain Von Trapp. Fast forward to the 2000s, Halle Berry wears her pixie cut day-in and day-out. She likes this hairstyle because it requires little maintenance.

A pixie cut is like a boyish cut that shows much of the facial features, with the back and sides shorter and the top longer. The 2010 version of the pixie cut donned by Halle Berry at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony is shorter and showed some spikes to look a little more rugged, compared to the pixie cuts of the 1950s and 1960s.

Short Bob Cut

A bob cut is a popular hairstyle that is always in fashion. It can be with or without bangs, straight or wavy. The classic bob cut has a length that reaches just at the chin with the front parted in the middle or side. In recent years, there were several variations of the bob cut used by celebrities to style their short hair. Most notably are Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham, who, as it turns out, are very good gal pals. Katie’s version is a little longer and has more body than Victoria’s version, which is a little shorter and thinner at the back. Victoria also reinvented the inverted bob cut, by cutting the back too short and the bangs or fringes longer, which many refer to as the “Pob,” coined from her stage name “Posh,” when she was with the “Spice Girls,” in combination with the word “bob” from bob cut.

Short-Layered Wavy Cut

Rihanna, Paris Hilton and Janet Jackson each have worn short, layered wavy cut that made them stand out in the crowd. A short, layered wavy hairstyle involves cutting the hair as short as or shorter than the classic bob, but with layers added. Parting the hair in several 2-inch sections and using curling iron or hair rollers on each one will make the hair wavy. Tousle and style with gel or mousse and apply hairspray to hold the waves.
