New Summer Hair Colors & Styles

Before you hit the beach this summer, take a walk on the wild side and give your hairdo a makeover. As you toss your winter hats into the closet and prepare to soak in the sun, you can bring new life to your look by modifying the cut, style and color of your locks. Select a light and breezy look for the summer that will leave you looking stunning, while keeping your potentially troublesome tresses at bay.

Out-of-My-Face Front French Braid

Before heading outdoors to enjoy the summer sun, craft a hairstyle that both gives you a warm-weather look and keeps your locks out of your face while you enjoy the season. Craft a front french braid by sectioning off the front 3 inches of your hair. Part your hair to the side. Secure the back of your hair with a ponytail holder to keep the locks away from your work area. Start at the part and complete a standard french braid, moving down along the perimeter of your face instead of back as is standard. While this look may appear complicated, it is quite easy to complete and leaves the wearer looking as if she has spent hours fixing her hairdo.

Sassy Bob

Long hair can become oppressively hot in the summer heat. Instead of letting your locks heat you up, cut them off by adopting a sassy summer bob. This light and breezy style will give you a fresh look that is perfect for summer. Visit your hair stylist and discuss potential bob lengths. Some brave bobbers go super short, while others leave their bobs closer to shoulder length so that they can more easily grow the style out later. Regardless of the length you select, you will surely look warm weather-ready once you snip away your winter hair growth.

Bold Red Locks

If you want to make a statement on the sand this summer, trade your standard hair color for a brazen red. Select a do-it-yourself red dye system, or visit your stylist and ask him to transform the color of your hairdo. Select a sassy color that features multiple hues of red. Doing so will increase the shine of the resulting hair and leave you with an attention-getting head of hair.

Sun-Kissed Blondes

Nothing quite screams “summer” like sun-bleached hair. Many women find that the hours they spend soaking up the sun leads to natural highlights in their mane, creating an authentic, lighter look. If you are not lucky enough to have locks conducive to sun bleaching, fake it with some hair dye. Instead of dyeing your whole head an improbable blonde, simple scatter highlights through your locks. Many companies offer at-home dyeing kits, allowing consumers to create this look on their own. If you don’t trust yourself with the bleach, ask a professional to create your summer ready look before you venture out this season.
