Ever Forget Your Baby in the Car?
In this record breaking hot summer, a number of children have been dying due to adults forgetting about them in the car. As we are parents of older children (the youngest being 9) we had to think back to those early days of waking every two hours to feed the babyTry to nap when your baby does is what everyone says, but it rarely works (at least for us it didnt)…and being so physically, emotionally and mentally tired that you can barely see straight.
What I taught my kid about being nice set her up to be a victim of bullying!
My 9 year old daughter is starting third grade in a new school. I hear through the grapevine that the children in the class have been together since first grade, and although they are nice, they are a bit competitive. So over the summer I gently coached my daughter about making new friends. I suggested that although she is a newby herself, she should also reach out to the other new kids in the class.

You Should Let Your Child Tattle — Here's Why!
When it comes to safety, does your child understand the difference between tattling and reporting? Do you? If not, both of you should! It is very important that we teach our children the difference between these two actions, and you can initiate this process when they are as young as three years old. Tattling is when a child tells a grownup something just to get the other person in trouble. Reporting, on the other hand, is when a child tells (or reports) to a grownup anything that has to do with his or her safety or the safety of others. It is our responsibility as parents to teach our children the importance of reporting to a grownup.
Do You REALLY Know Your Babysitter?
Years ago, prior to having a child, I was a psychotherapist to women who had been physically and sexually abused. As they say sometimes things happen for a reason and it may take years to figure that reason out. My reason happened after I had my son and was a stay at home mom for 3 years.
