Fifty years ago, a very distinctive and diverse group of womendecided to start meeting once a month. The group was made up of daughters of former Governors, wives of distinguished business men, stay at home moms, and women who were just beginning the journey of leaving a definitive mark on their communities.

Sitting there looking down the table at my children, their friends and my family, I found it hard to sum up my day. Then a stranger came up and sang Happy Birthday to me and suddenly my day made sense.

It is time to celebrate – my little guy has hit a huge milestone. He is reading!

I recently read an article about the upcoming Summer Olympics. It said that British athletes have been advised not to shake hands with other players or dignitaries at the London Olympic Games for fear that they will pick up an illness and lose the opportunity to win a medal in the games.
