He’s known for his snarky critcism as a judge on The X Factor, but it looks like Simon Cowell may face a little heat of his own in the coming months.
According to various news outlets, the 53-year-old is expecting his first child with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, who is not only married… but married to one of Cowell’s close friends.
An assistant to Cowell’s U.K. rep told People, “This is a very sensitive issue and all media enquiries are being dealt with by his U.S. attorney.”
Silverman, 36, and her husband, real estate mogul Andrew Silverman, have reportedly filed for divorce.
“She’s around 10 weeks along,” an insider told Us Weekly.
“Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while,” said another source. “As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close.”
To complicate the situation even further, Cowell has been open in the past about not wanting kids.
“God, no. I couldn’t have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I’d go nuts,” he said in 2009. “You’ve got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking.”
Hopefully his feelings on the matter have changed.
