Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 – Review

I don’t know about you, but I grew up playing with Barbie. And now that I’m a mom, it’s always fun to share one of my favorite childhood friends with my own kids.

Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 is an enchanting and engaging sequel, where the main character heads to Australia for a surfing competition.

Not only did my daughter love watching her surf, there’s added fun below the sea. In fact, one of her favorite parts was when Barbie goes below the water thanks to her mom’s special necklace that gives her the power of the ocean. The very special “changing of life” ceremony transforms Barbie into a mermaid princess!

But trouble brews when her evil aunt Eris casts a nightmare spell that takes away her ability to swim. Barbie has to learn a valuable lesson about girl power when she teams up with her surfing rival to save the ocean.

I loved watching this movie with my little girl because it really captured the theme of friendship. The message of the film is totally pro-social; that by “working together, you can do anything.”

And he’d kill me if he knew I was sharing this – but I even caught my 9-year-old son watching the video. In his own words, “It wasn’t like a regular girl movie.”

The graphics were great, the music was engaging and the plot was full of adventure and excitement. Truly a great watch and must-see video for any family!
