Modern Goddess

September 18, 2009 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

From celebrities to runways to cocktail parties, the one shoulder look has become this season’s biggest trend and will continue to do so this fall.  We Modern Moms like to feel like a Goddess and now we can look like one with this sexy and sophisticated trend.

This look can be intimidating to some but luckily designers have made this more functional for everyday wear.  Whether we are going to a luncheon, cocktail party or dinner this style is tasteful and flattering.  The one shoulder look can be worn as a dress or a top.  I would recommend wearing it to a fun event and stay away from wearing it to work.  Think of it as a strapless top and then wear it to those places you would go in just that.  A strapless bra is your best bet when wearing this look.  You do not want your bra strap showing.

This is a very feminine look that can be sexy and worn for a variety of occasions.  It is best accessorized with long earrings and a great necklace.  Unless you choose the shoulder dress I would wear the tops with skinny jeans, a pencil skirt or cropped pants.  The bare shoulders can be very sexy so why not expose one shoulder and leave the rest up to the imagination?

This look is so versatile and can be worn by many different body types.  You can choose a fancy ruffled silk top or cotton more casual ones.  Don’t be afraid to go try a few on and find the style for you.  This has become so popular that many swimsuit companies have made one-shoulder bathing suits.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to achieve this look. We love all designers, especially Diane von Furstenberg who is the designer of choice for women across the world. This look is everywhere and you can find it from PlanetBlue.com, H&M, Guess, BCBG, Ella Moss and even Target. Just remember – no matter whom you are wearing YOU will be the Modern Goddess!”
