What Exercises Make Your Butt Smaller?

October 11, 2009 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

You know you have to exercise to make you’re butt smaller; it’s not going to disappear while you sleep. Your dilemma is, what exercises should you do to make your butt smaller? The gluteus maximus is the largest muscle in your body, and the key to making it shrink is to make it work. There are certain things you can do to minimize your maximus faster, and before you know it your butt will be smaller and you’ll have an excuse to go shopping for new jeans!

Walking

Walk your way to a smaller behind. Walking is the perfect exercise for reducing your butt because most people can walk without a problem. The key is to walk every day and to increase your speed and distance every third day until you’re up to a brisk three miles.

Climbing

Gluteus Maximus

Climb some stairs, whether it’s at work, at home or at the mall. Climbing works the parts of your butt that you don’t normally use, so whether you run up and down a staircase or use a stair stepper, pump those steps.

Biking

Ride a bike for a strenuous glutinous workout. Bike riding stretches your muscles from the toes to the hips and is an essential rear end exercise. You can use a stationary cycle or go for a tour of the neighborhood; either way make sure you put in 20 minutes a day of pedaling.

Squats

Squats are perfect when you don’t have a lot of time to exercise. Stand with your feet one foot apart and slowly lower yourself to a squat. Hold it for 10 seconds before you slowly stand back up. Make sure you keep your back straight and let your butt do the work.

Kick-Backs

Kneel on the floor and do 10 butt kick-backs to really show it who’s boss. Draw one leg out behind you at a 90-degree angle and raise it as high as possible. Lower it slowly back to the floor; repeat with the other leg.
