Natural Face Mask Recipes

Natural face masks can be made with ingredients already in your refrigerator or pantry or bulk supplies from your local health food store. Choose the right natural face mask recipes for your skin type and plan a relaxing spa evening. Using a face mask suited to your skin regularly can improve the overall appearance of your skin, preventing dryness, redness and reducing breakouts. Save yourself the money on expensive masks made from chemicals derived from natural ingredients and simply make your own.

The Simplest Natural Face Mask Recipes

Some of the easiest face mask recipes have only one ingredient. Honey is an excellent natural face mask. Simply apply and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse and cleanse as usual. Beaten egg whites can be used for oily skin. Try mashed avocado for dry skin. Miracle Whip can be used as an exfoliating facial-mask treatment. Apply thinly and remove by rolling it off your skin after 15 to 20 minutes.

Refrigerator Recipes

Make a moisturizing mask by combining 1 tbsp. dry milk, 1 egg yolk and 1 tsp. honey. Stir together and apply. To soothe irritated skin, combine 1/2 cup dry oatmeal, 1 mashed avocado and 1/3 cup honey. Make a smoother mask by using oat flour or pulverizing the dry oatmeal in a blender or coffee grinder. One natural facial-mask recipe for oily skin requires a finely grated, medium-sized apple and 5 tbsp. honey. Combine and allow to sit on the skin for 10 minutes. Rinse well.

Clay Mask Recipes

Clay is widely used in commercial facial masks and is especially good for oily or acne-prone skin. Green clay works well for oilier skin, while white or red clay are gentler options for all skin types. Combine 1 ounce of any commercially available clay, 1 tsp. vegetable glycerin and 3 tbsp. distilled water or flower water. Allow to dry on the skin for 15 to 20 minutes and rinse well.
