Best Facial Cleansers for Dry Skin

October 11, 2009 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

There are different types of skin conditions, varying in moisture. There are people with normal, dry, oily or anything in between and combination thereof. Maintenance for each skin type is different. One should not use a product meant for another skin type; for example, a person with dry skin should not use a product for oily skin and vice-versa. This is because the condition could worsen and lead to skin problems that can be more difficult to address down the road. For those with dry skin, it is important to use facial cleansers that can help moisten the skin. Facial cleansers with natural moisturizers and exfoliating ingredients are great for dry skin.

Cetaphil Gentle Daily Cleanser

According to ConsumerSearch.com, Cetaphil Gentle Daily Cleanser is one of the mildest facial cleansers available. Many consumers prefer Cetaphil over other products, because it is gentle and non-irritating. Its mild ingredients make it non-drying, and it washes off easily. You can use this product not only for the face, but also for your hands and other body parts. This product is also great for removing makeup. It contains water, cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, stearyl alcohol, methylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben. Among the effective facial cleansers for dry skins, it is also affordable.

According to DermaDoctor.com, Cetaphil Centle Daily Cleanser is one of just 25 brands (among 10,000-plus) in the Allure Best of Beauty Hall of Fame for consistently being named as one of the few select brands for the Allure Best of Beauty award for five years or more. You can buy this product at your local drugstores or department stores.

Average cost as of 2009: $9 per 16-oz. bottle.

Aveeno Positively Ageless Daily Exfoliating Cleanser

The Aveeno Positively Ageless Daily Exfoliating Cleanser is a type of dry-skin cleanser that gently removes dull, dry skin while cleansing. It is non-irritating because it is soap-free. This product contains tiny micro-beads that can help exfoliate and remove dry skin cells. To help rejuvenate dry skin, Aveeno also contains a light foaming formula that contains a natural ingredient that comes from shiitake mushroom extracts.

Average price in 2009: $8 per 5-oz. bottle.

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap offers a gentle-yet-effective cleansing power that is suitable for dry skin. Although Clinique is more expensive than Aveeno or Cetaphil, it is still affordable when compared with higher-end facial cleansing products. The mild and extra-mild formulas are preferable over the other formulations that contain menthol that can cause irritation. Use this product daily, before applying makeup in the morning and before going to bed at night.

Average cost as of 2009: $24 per 6.7-oz. bottle.
