How to Fade Age Spots Naturally

October 11, 2009 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Age spots or liver spots–whatever you call them, as you age, the pigmentation in your skin changes and develops dark freckle-like spots all over your body. Age spots are not harmful, but that does not mean that you should have to keep them. Cosmetic companies have numerous varieties of bleaching creams and other methods for fading age spots, but if you have sensitive skin or just don’t want to use chemical treatments, there are a couple of natural ways to fade age spots.

Lemon Juice

Step 1

Squeeze fresh lemons into a bowl. You can use a lemon juicer or squeeze with your hands. Strain the juice through a cheese cloth to get pure lemon juice.

Step 2

Dip a cotton swab into the lemon juice and rub it across the age spot. Allow it to sit on the skin for one hour and then rinse it off.

Step 3

Repeat the lemon rub twice a day. You should see results within four to six weeks.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Red Onions

Step 1

Chop up a red onion in a food processor or blender until it is very mushy. Pour the mashed onion onto a cheese cloth and strain it to get the juice.

Step 2

Measure the amount of red onion juice and add an equal amount of organic apple cider vinegar. Mix the juices completely.

Step 3

Dip a cotton swab into the apple cider vinegar and onion juice mix and rub it onto the age spot. Allow it to sit for one hour and then rinse off. Repeat twice a day for four to six weeks.

Warnings

  • Do not use these treatments near your eyes.
  • If you experience extreme burning sensations or develop rashes, discontinue these treatments.
  • Show any unusual spots to your doctor, as some spots might be cancerous.
