How to Get Rid of Razor Bumps Quickly

Razor bumps are a literal pain. Not only do they look unattractive, but they itch and hurt as well. Many people have sensitive skin that easily breaks out in razor bumps, and others develop these bumps due to something else (such as a dull razor or an allergic reaction.)

Below, you’ll learn some important steps for how to get rid of razor bumps quickly so that you can stop the irritation as soon as possible:

Step 1: Prevention

Take preventive action. The best way to get rid of razor bumps quickly is to prevent them from occurring. The most important thing is that you use a sharp, fresh razor when you shave. If you notice that the blade is getting dull, replace it immediately. You should also soak the skin in warm water before shaving because it helps to open up the pores and reduces razor bumps. Shave with a lubricating and soothing gel rather than dry or with soap. Always use water when you shave and never shave dry – even with shaving cream or soap. Doing so is almost a guarantee for razor bumps.

Step 2: Minimize the damage

Minimize existing razor bumps damage. One of the most important ways to get rid of razor bumps quickly is to minimize the damage. Do not rub alcohol or irritating ointments on the bumps, or they will get worse. Scratching them will make them worse as well. Ensure that the affected skin is clean and dry if you want to keep the razor bumps from getting worse. As soon as you have shaved, apply a soothing ointment that is non-irritating. Doing so could prevent bumps from occurring at all.

Step 3: Soothe your skin

Soothe the affected area. There are many different things that will effectively soothe and reduce the razor bumps. One of the greatest things is all natural, pure and unrefined shea butter. Shea butter is extremely helpful for razor bumps and is naturally antibacterial and soothing. It will help heal the razor bumps quickly and keep your skin protected and soft. Aloe vera gel is also very soothing to razor bumps. Apply either of these products to your skin either over night or during the day to minimize and reduce your razor bumps quickly.

Step 4: Allow time to heal

Wear loose-fitting clothes and don’t irritate area further. While the razor bumps are healing, you should wear loose fitting clothing and avoid other things that might further irritate the skin. For instance, skin-to-skin contact will irritate razor bumps. If they’re on your legs, don’t cross your legs and wear shorts or a skirt that will not irritate the skin. Keep applying the ointment to protect the skin as the bumps heal and make sure to exfoliate!
