How to Tighten Skin Naturally

Tightening and toning the skin can do wonders for your overall appearance. The problem is that many drugstore and department store skin treatments are loaded with chemicals and fillers that can irritate the skin and clog pores. Using natural products instead will tighten the skin while treating it well.

Step 1

Stay hydrated. Try to drink at least eight cups of unsweetened, uncarbonated water daily. Two of these cups of water can be consumed in the form of unsweetened green tea, which is filled with skin-protecting antioxidants.

Step 2

Maintain a good diet and exercise regime. Pack your meals with fresh produce, especially leafy greens, berries and yellow-skinned vegetables, all rich in antioxidants. Daily cardiovascular exercise will keep the heart healthy and promote good blood circulation, essential for good skin health. You can target the skin on your face with a daily face yoga practice, using the poses outlined in The Face Yoga Routine (see Resources below).

Step 3

Try an all-natural skin toner. Splash warm water on your face to open pores. Apply grated cucumber to your face, neck and any other areas you wish to target for toning. Allow the moisture in the cucumber to evaporate. Rinse off the cucumber with cold water to close your pores.

Step 4

Apply a natural facial and body mask once a week to deeply treat the skin. Most skin types benefit from an oatmeal and honey mask. Mix a cup of oatmeal with warm water and a couple tablespoons of honey. Apply the mask to any areas you wish to tone. Rinse off the mask with warm water. Follow up by rinsing the skin with cold water.

Step 5

Moisturize your skin. You can use a commercial all-natural, organic formula, such as Avalon Organics Lavender Hand and Body Lotion, lotions by Pangea Organics or Purity Cosmetics Organic Healing Moisturizing Balm. You can also make your own moisturizers, such as mixing the gel of a Vitamin E capsule with aloe vera.

Warnings

  • Avoid staying in excessive direct sunlight without wearing sunscreen. A brimmed hat and sunglasses increase your protection.
