How to Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite is that rippling effect on the skin–typically in the thighs, butt, stomach and arms–that most people find unattractive. It happens more often to women who have given birth or individuals who have gained and lost weight. Learn how to reduce your cellulite and give your skin a smoother, more toned appearance.

Step 1

Eat healthier. Fill up on wholesome foods like fruits and vegetables, whole fiber, beans and legumes. Avoid foods that are high in fat, sugars and cholesterol, including prepackaged cakes and cookies, deep-fried foods, and dairy and sweets. Lowering your calorie and fat intake will reduce your cellulite.

Step 2

Exercise to get rid of the excess fat that causes cellulite. If you can’t visit the gym for three hours a day, there are other ways to exercise. Walk your dog each day for 30 minutes twice a day. Walk fast, pumping your arms and sucking your stomach muscles in. Walk upstairs rather than taking the elevator. Swim for 15 minutes a day–and really swim, don’t just splash around in the water–to get rid of that cellulite.

Step 3

Try deep tissue massage. Some deep tissue massages actually help to flatten out the appearance of cellulite, reconfiguring the way the fat cells are stacked. This will help smooth out the skin and get rid of that “cottage cheese” look that cellulite is so famous for.

Step 4

Drink eight glasses of water each day to reduce cellulite. Water flushes toxins and wastes from your body and helps you stay full for a longer period of time. It also helps smooth out your skin and make it appear healthier and more radiant.
