How to Style Your Hair in a Bob

Bobs are a classic and popular hairstyle, working well for many face shapes and body types. Bobs can be as short as chin length or as long as shoulder length and may or may not have bangs. The traditional bob is worn smooth and straight for a polished look. A good blow dry can create a style that works for the office or the weekend with both short and longer bobs.

Step 1

Wash and towel dry your hair. Use a moisturizing conditioner. Use a wide-tooth comb to comb out hair, working from the roots to the ends to remove knots and tangles.

Step 2

Apply a volumizing root lifter or a light volumizing mousse to your hair. Select a product that works well for your hair, whether it is fine or thick.

Step 3

Start with a section of hair several inches wide. Work with lower sections of hair first, then the top of the head. Pull a large, flat paddle brush through the hair, stopping just 1 or 2 inches from the roots. Blow it dry, beginning with the roots. Pull the brush down the hair, drying as you go.

Step 4

Work through the hair, section by section, until the hair is completely dry. If you have wavy or curly hair, be especially careful to get the hair completely dry.

Step 5

Rub a tiny amount of shine-enhancing serum over the hair; lightly spray with a shine-enhancing spray.
