Pregnancy & Beauty Tips

Your pregnancy can be one of the most exciting times of your life. Unfortunately, the many changes your body faces during this time can wreak havoc on your skin and nails. Much of your time may involve focusing on your baby’s upcoming arrival, leaving little room for a beauty routine. Luckily, you can incorporate some quick beauty practices into your daily life, without disrupting your already hectic schedule. A simple beauty regimen can keep you feeling and looking your best.

Facial Cleansing

Many women experience an increase in acne during pregnancy. Minimize this condition by using a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and oils from your skin. Select a facial cleanser formulated for sensitive skin to avoid harsh chemicals and minimize moisture loss during cleansing. Wash your face regularly to remove all traces of make-up and airborne pollutants.

Apply Sunscreen

Hormones can cause your sun to become blotchy in the sun. Even if you never used a sunscreen before, now is the time to protect your skin from those rays. Known as melasma, brown patches that darken in the sun can make you feel as if your face looks dirty. Apply a sunscreen that contains parsol and titanium dioxide to limit skin damage from the sun’s rays.

Reduce Eye Puffiness

Puffy eyes can plague women throughout pregnancy. Your changing hormones that contribute to fatigue and water retention can increase your likelihood of developing baggy, puffy skin around your eyes. Drink plenty of water and rest as often and as much as possible. Reduce morning puffiness by placing chilled spoons, cool tea bags or cucumber slices over your closed eyes for a few minutes, reducing the swelling.

Nails

Keeping up with manicures during pregnancy can keep you looking your best, all the way to your fingertips. Professional pedicures can also help you relax and feel pampered, especially if you find it uncomfortable to reach your toenails. Avoid smelly chemicals and polishes if you experience pregnancy nausea. Just keeping your nails trimmed and your cuticles pushed back can keep your fingers and toes looking healthy and attractive.

Pregnancy Glow

You may feel like your skin lacks luster during pregnancy. Boost the appearance of glowing, sun-kissed skin with a little blush. Apply a light stroke of bronzer or blush to your cheeks to minimize the appearance of washed-out, blotchy skin tones.
