Metabolic Weight Loss Centers

July 27, 2010 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Losing weight can be difficult no matter how you approach it. Some people need a little extra help to lose weight. At a metabolic weight loss center, you can get medical support in your weight loss journey, with physicians designing a program that is specific for your body. By approaching weight loss from a variety of angles, you can increase your chances of success.

Significance

Each person’s metabolic rate differs. The metabolic rate is the way the body uses calories for energy or stores it for fat. Someone who has a high metabolism can eat more food and still stay thin, while someone with a low metabolism may struggle, eating few calories but not losing weight. No weight loss program is one-size-fits-all. By going to a metabolic weight loss center, you can get a program that’s tailored to you.

Features

The doctors and nutritionists at a metabolic weight loss center will start by giving you an examination. This will look at your lifestyle, your food preferences and your metabolic rate. Based on these things, the doctor will give you a diet to follow. Someone with a lower metabolic rate will receive a diet that is lower in calories. You’ll also receive an exercise program and possibly supplements that can help with weight loss. Throughout your program, you will meet regularly to monitor your progress and make changes, if necessary.

Benefits

The benefit of going to a metabolic weight loss center instead of trying to lose weight on your own is that you have continuous support. If you reach a plateau or the program doesn’t seem to be working, your doctor will be able to change the plan. Under a doctor’s supervision, you can lose weight at a faster rate than you would be able to do on your own.

Time Frame

The amount of time that it will take to lose weight depends on how much weight you have to lose. In general, you can expect to lose between 2 and 5 pounds per week, although weight loss may slow as you reach your goal weight.

Considerations

Metabolic weight loss centers are not a magic solution for weight loss. You will need to make significant changes to your lifestyle if you want to lose weight and keep it off. This includes changing your eating habits, eating smaller portions and getting regular exercise.
