Celebrity New Hairstyles

Often, celebrities are at the forefront when it comes to wearing new hairstyles. They get first dibs on what is new and become walking billboards for the trendiest hairstylists. If you are in the market for new hairstyles, all you have to do is look at photos of your favorite A-listers or watch them in action on the small or big screen. Choose a style that will suit you best. You could look just like a celebrity with the right hairdo.

Jennifer Lopez and Her New Wavy Hairstyle

Flash bulbs go off whenever Jennifer Lopez struts down the red carpet. “J. Lo,” as her fans call her fondly, commands attention with every entrance. She always wears the latest fashion in clothes and hairstyles. During the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, which aired on Feb. 5, 2010, J. Lo wore a new wavy hairstyle, created by stylist Robert Vetica. J. Lo’s new wavy hairstyle complemented her classy style and appearance.

Achieve the look by trimming your hair in one length while damp. Giving your hair a blunt cut will give your curls a stacked appearance, making them more voluminous. Keep your hair bouncy by blow-drying your hair with a round brush, and then part it in the middle. Divide your hair in 2-inch sections of strands, apply misting spray and curl each section using a 1-inch barrel curling iron, working your way from front to back. Tousle your hair with styling mousse or cream to loosen the tight curls. Smooth your hair with a bristle brush and backcomb with a wide-toothed comb. Finish off with a medium-hold spray.

Jessica Alba’s Bob Cut

On Feb. 9, 2010, Jessica Alba wore a new bob cut during the premiere of “Valentine’s Day” in Los Angeles, Calif. This bob is another variation of the classic bob cut that complements Jessica Alba’s facial features well. The fringes made her eyes look more dazzling that night, which complemented her emerald green outfit.

Trimming your hair at chin level is a good starting foundation for this bob. Add layers by using a clipper or razor to give the edgy, blunt cut. Add volume by curling your hair with a 1-inch barrel curling iron from front to back. Apply mousse or styling cream, and work your fingers through your hair. Gently shake and tousle your hair for a bit of a messy finish.

Rihanna’s New Red Bowl Cut

Call her “Ri-Ri” or “Ri,” but one thing is sure; singer Rihanna is a style icon. When it comes to hairstyles, Rihanna prefers to go short. She has donned boyish cuts, pixies, razor cuts and crop cuts, to name a few. Every time she makes a public appearance, her hairstyles take center stage, along with her voice. On June 5, 2010, at the Rock in Rio in Madrid, Rihanna showed off her new red bowl cut, which has a fiery-red color that complemented her scarlet lipsticks.

To achieve this look, cut your hair short just above the back of the neck. Shave your under-hair up to the middle of the back of your head and near and behind the ears. Shorten the top and shape it into an inverted bowl, with the bangs just above your eyebrows. Chopping the ends of your hair will give your hair pointy edges. Dye your hair in red and style with mousse.
