Sexy Hair Colors & Styles

August 23, 2010 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Your hairstyle should complement your hair color, and the two often go hand in hand. Without the right style, even the best of colors can look blah–while a sexy hairstyle on the wrong color can often go unnoticed. Turn heads by choosing the right cut for the right color.

Sexy Blonde Soft Waves

Often dubbed as one of the sexiest, blonde bombshells of Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe sported a blonde soft, wavy hairstyle that is undeniably sexy. Coloring your hair in pure light blonde that almost appears plantinum-like is the first step in creating Marilyn Monroe’s 1950s hairstyle. If you are not a natural blonde, make sure you touch up the dark roots with blonde dye to make the look flawless. Trim your hair a little above the shoulders. Apply styling mousse to your hair, and then use a large barrel curling iron to add the soft waves. Start from front to back, top and sides of your hair. Brushing your hair with a round brush will loosen tight curls. Brush your hair upward from the front and then back in a downward motion. Finish off with a light-hold spray to keep the curls secure, but still bouncy.

Sexy Brunette Wavy layers

A-lister Beyonce Knowles’ beautiful brown locks look sexy with the addition of layers and waves. Create layers using pinking shears starting from the front, and then ending at the back. Adding layers will allow you to create curls that will not tangle or lock up easily. Use a paddle brush to remove hair tangles and knots. Brush the front of your hair upward and let your tresses fall behind your head. Apply styling mousse and use a large barrel curling iron to create the large waves. Once done, tousle your hair using your hands and loosen up any tight curls you see. Apply a light-hold spray to keep your waves all day while keeping them bouncy and beautiful.

Sexy Black Messy Hairstyle

The messy or bed-head hairstyle donned by sexy Transformer star Megan Fox in 2009 should look unkempt once done. Super long hair will look best to achieve the same effect as the starlet’s hair. Shampoo, condition and rinse your hair thoroughly. Use a towel to dry your hair. Apply light styling product and work your fingers through your hair while it is still damp. Tousling and scrunching your hair with your fingers will create the untidy appearance. Blow-dry your hair while your head is in an upside-down position. Apply a light-hold spray to lock in the messy finish.

Sexy Red Bowl Cut

Rihanna’s red bowl cut is a type of sexy style for women who prefer shorter hair. Cut your hair short using a razor-cut style just above the back of the neck and along the sides near your ears. Make sure your ears are showing. The fiery-red bowl cut turns sexy with the addition of sharp edges and a blunt fringe that you can sweep to the side of your forehead. Style with mousse and wear your hair with an attitude. Applying a scarlet lipstick will complement your new sexy red-hot hairstyle.
