Fastest Way to Get Rid of Fever Blisters

Fever blisters, sometimes called cold sores, occur on and around your mouth. They are often a by-product of certain herpes viruses and can pop up any time. There is nothing like getting ready for a big day and discovering a raw, itchy, painful, red splotch on your face. It ruins the mood. While there is no sure cure to wipe out fever blisters immediately or over time, you can, with careful attention, facilitate the shortest life possible for that little nasty blister.

Step 1

Wash the spot softly with a cotton washcloth. Do not scrub it. Just simply wipe away any oozing or crusting. Throw the washcloth in the washing machine. Don’t use it again on your face or the rest of your body until it is clean.

Step 2

Dip a clean finger into the lip balm that has peppermint oil. Let the menthol cooling remind you not to touch the spot throughout the day. Apply the lip balm whenever your lips feel chapped, but don’t apply it directly from the tube itself. Use your finger. Wash your finger immediately afterward.

Step 3

Apply over-the-counter medication which may relieve the pain and dry the spot of infection. Wash your hands thoroughly.

Step 4

Apply a layer of zinc at the end of the day, when you won’t be going out anymore. The white spot on your face may be as embarrassing as a red one.

Step 5

Write down in your journal any foods that cause pain or flaring in the blister. If you discover a pattern, don’t eat it during the life of your blister.
