10 Best Skin Care Products

The skin care aisle stretches miles long, offering every scent, color, vitamin and promise imaginable. When you go in for just soap or lotion, you might end up with a cart full of items or leave overwhelmed and empty-handed. Even though thousands of products are available to the consumer, some have been singled out as being best for your skin.

Basic Soap

Unless you have a prescription from a dermatologist, you can choose a basic soap for both your body and face. Look for a soap that cleanses your skin of oils, dirt and other soiling items. To save yourself some time, you can even look for a soap that you can use on your face and body. In a February 2009 article, “Women’s Health Magazine” recommended Neutrogena’s Facial Cleanser, which is reportedly gentle on your skin, but effective on dirt and grime. Cosmetic Executive Women, or CEW, named Fresh Sugar Açaí Body Scrub the best body scrub of 2010.

Acne

If you have a mild case of acne, you might benefit from some acne products that promise to unplug pores, remove blackheads and whiteheads, and control blemishes. The 2010 winner for acne control, from CEW, was La Roche-Posay. This product exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate the skin as well as strips unnecessary oils and dirt with benzoyl peroxide. In 2010, “Elle” magazine gave Neosporin a Genius Award for its ability to heal broken pimples.

Lotion

In 2010, the CEW winner for all over body moisture was Vaseline’s Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3, which promises to hydrate every layer of skin. It is advertised to provide twice as much moisture as the average lotion. For sensitive skin, CEW recommended Neutrogena’s Sensitive Skin sunblock with SPF 60 and PureScreen.

Anti-Aging

If you are concerned about the aging of your skin, and want to turn back or hold onto the clock, choose some anti-aging products. In 2010, CEW suggested Garnier’s Renew Awakening Face Massager, which moisturizes your face with caffeine and vitamins while massaging it. In 2008, Aveeno’s Positively Ageless Lifting and Firming Daily Moisturizer won a Shecky’s Beauty at its Best Award and a Natural Health Beauty Award.

Cover It Up

In an online article, “Marie Claire” recommends Amore Pacific Time Response Skin Renewal Foundation with an SPF 18. The powder foundation is full of green tea. If dry skin mars your use of foundation, “Real Simple” magazine recommends Trish McEvoy Even Skin Foundation, which is light and thin, full of moisturizers for dry skin.
